3rd Annual Kern County Homebuying Conference Empowers Local Families

Bakersfield, CA — November 8, 2025 – My Way Home proudly hosted the 3rd Annual Kern County Homebuying Conference, bringing together families, housing experts, lenders, and community partners for a full day of education, resources, and inspiration. The conference, held in Bakersfield, aimed to provide local residents with the tools and knowledge needed to take their next steps toward homeownership.

A Day Full of Learning and Resources
Attendees had access to exhibits from lenders and community organizations and participated in classes covering credit management, down payment assistance, and the overall homebuying process. These sessions gave first-time buyers practical, actionable guidance to help them navigate the often-complex journey to purchasing a home.

The conference was hosted by MC Andrae Gonzalez, Councilemember of the City of Bakersfield, who helped guide attendees through the day’s events. Guests included experts from CalHFA and the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, providing insights into financing options, protections for buyers, and opportunities for support.

The success of the conference would not have been possible without our generous sponsors: AltaOne Federal Credit Union, California Bank & Trust, Citizens Business Bank, Bank of America, BMO, and Rize Credit Union. Their support ensures that families in Kern County can access vital homeownership education and resources.

“The Kern County Homebuying Conference is more than just an event, it’s an opportunity to open doors for families who are ready to invest in their future,” said Executive Director, Bertha Garcia. “We are honored to provide education, connections, and encouragement to help local residents move closer to their dream of homeownership.”
